West African security priorities create a shared agenda for cooperation at AFRIDEX 2026
ASIM, Oct 27
This afternoon’s Strategic Conference panel, Securing the Gulf of Guinea, examines how multinational maritime task forces operate in practice and the coordination, capability and institutional questions behind collective security at sea. For participants, the value lies in understanding where national requirements connect and which cooperation pathways can support practical progress.
Speakers from the Combined Maritime Task Force for the Gulf of Guinea, the Gulf of Guinea Commission, the National Defence College, Stellenbosch University and the Royal Danish Defence College will share operational, diplomatic and academic perspectives on multinational maritime cooperation across the region.
The panel begins at 16:30 in the Plenary. Check the latest running order and join with your Delegate Pass. Follow AFRIDEX for the priorities and recommendations shared on the record.
The broader relevance is the connection between a shared priority and the institutions responsible for addressing it. Participants can use the discussion to understand the perspectives represented, identify areas requiring greater detail and continue the appropriate conversations with fellow delegates and industry specialists onsite.
The wider AFRIDEX delegation list includes ECOWAS-CEDEAO, Nigerian Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Defence Ghana, Armed Forces of Côte d’Ivoire, Armed Forces of Benin Republic, Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, Togolese Armed Forces.
