The future of land warfare in Africa at 3rd Africa Land Forces Forum 2026

The conversation looked beyond today and focused on tomorrow. The closing Fireside Chat explored the future of land warfare in Africa, examining innovation, adaptation and strategic foresight in an increasingly complex security environment.

Moderated by Esther Maupe Ogun, TV Presenter and Journalist, the discussion featured Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, Chief of Army Staff, Ghana Army, and Major General AO Awolo, Nigerian Army, who shared valuable perspectives on emerging technologies, defence modernization and long-term regional stability.

It was a fitting conclusion to a day defined by collaboration, knowledge exchange and strategic dialogue.
