Minister of Defence, raised key considerations for the defence and security community at the AFRIDEX 2026 opening ceremony

ASIM, Oct 26

People, readiness and the support behind capability.

General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Defence, raised key considerations for the defence and security community at the AFRIDEX 2026 opening ceremony.

Does the capability meet a real operational requirement? Are the people and institutions prepared to use it? What expertise and support will remain after the sale?

His address placed training, doctrine, leadership and personnel welfare within the readiness discussion. Medical care, housing and family wellbeing were presented alongside the equipment and technical support personnel need to carry out their responsibilities.

For industry, the address pointed to listening to military requirements and explaining how the offer fits existing capability. For international partners, it pointed to supporting skills, local production, responsible technology transfer and maintenance throughout the equipment’s life.

These are practical considerations for the conversations taking place across AFRIDEX. Use the exhibition to meet technical specialists, examine the support behind their offer and identify credible next steps around your organisation’s requirements.
