Malawi Defence Force at AFRIDEX 2026

ASIM, Sep 17

Organised under Malawi’s Ministry of Defence, the Malawi Defence Force comprises the Malawi Army, Malawi Air Force and Malawi Maritime Force, with the Army forming the backbone of the tri-service structure.

The Force has built a strong track record in UN peace operations, notably as a troop-contributing nation to the Force Intervention Brigade in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, alongside contributions to the SADC Standby Brigade.

Attendance at AFRIDEX could see the Force exploring modernisation of land mobility and armoured platforms, air transport and utility helicopter capability, and continued investment in peacekeeping-focused training and equipment.
