Italy and Leonardo at AFRIDEX 2026

The announcement comes at a significant point in Italy–Nigeria defence and security cooperation.
In September, the Nigerian Air Force received three Leonardo AW-109 Trekker B helicopters as part of a 10-aircraft programme, while the first M-346FA aircraft are progressing towards delivery following factory acceptance testing in Italy.
Beyond aircraft acquisition, cooperation extends into pilot and maintenance training, logistics, lifecycle support and long-term fleet sustainment – areas central to operational readiness and enduring capability.
At the Africa International Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX) this October, the Official Delegation from Italy and Leonardo will join government, military and industry stakeholders in Lagos for structured engagement around capability development, training, sustainment, industrial cooperation and long-term defence and security partnerships.
