ASIM, Oct 27
Major General John Clark CBE, Commander of the Integrated Global Defence Network at the UK Ministry of Defence, delivered this morning’s keynote at the AFRIDEX 2026 Strategic Conference, From Partnership to Prosperity.
The session explored how UK–Africa defence and security cooperation can grow beyond engagement into lasting economic value, with a focus on expanding responsible trade and investment across the continent’s defence and security sectors.
Discussion centred on connecting African capability requirements with UK innovation, expertise and technology, and on building long-term commercial partnerships that strengthen local industry, develop skills and support wider economic growth. It reflected a theme running throughout this year’s programme, where security cooperation and industrial development advance together.
The Strategic Conference continues this afternoon in the Plenary. Follow AFRIDEX 2026 for further highlights from Lagos.
