Aviation INDIA 2026: Leading Indian Airlines are discussing the strategic shift toward MRO self-sufficiency to manage rapid fleet growth
ASIM, Nov 04
Leading Indian Airlines are discussing the strategic shift toward MRO self-sufficiency to manage rapid fleet growth.
▪️ Air India Limited aims to lift in-house line maintenance from 80% to 100% within “six to eight months.” It is also building an MRO hub in Bangalore, starting with a five-bay hangar and planning to expand to 13 bays over the “next few years.”
▪️ IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd) currently performs around 50% of its C-checks in-house, freeing up third-party MROs to focus on end-of-lease checks.
▪️ Akasa Air plans to open an MRO facility at the new Noida International Airport in 2028.
