Airbus signed a strategic MoU with SkyFall at ILA Berlin 2026

ASIM, Jun 12

ILA Berlin 2026 has made one thing clear: European defence has reached a new level of maturity. Beyond the record-breaking attendance, the event showcased a shift from discussion to rapid, decisive action.

The strategic focus remains on delivering effective solutions for the modern battlefield through key partnerships:

  • Forging Tactical Synergies: By signing a strategic MoU with SkyFall—in the presence of Federal Defence Minister Boris Pistorius—the team is bridging traditional defence with rapid-cycle innovation. This partnership combines Airbus’s C2 and air defence expertise with real-world combat insights from Ukraine to enhance sky protection.
  • Closing the Detection Gap: Through a new MoU with Alta Ares, the integration of combat-proven, AI-powered counter-drone capabilities into the Fortion IBMS (Integrated Battle Management System) is now underway, effectively closing the gap from detection to neutralisation.

The Future of FCAS: While the roadmap for the 6th-generation fighter jet evolves, the commitment to the “System of Systems” and the Combat Cloud remains unwavering. As part of “Team Gen 6,” the team is confirming its capability and determination to contribute meaningfully to a European 6th-gen fighter. Furthermore, the development of Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) is being accelerated to ensure they are fielded by the 2030s.

The industry is moving forward with conviction, defining the next era of European air superiority.
