Boom’s XB-1 supersonic demonstrator aircraft completed its second flight at the Mojave Air & Space Port in California, marking significant progress in its flight test program. The flight included successfully retracting and extending the landing gear, testing aircraft handling qualities, and activating a new digital stability augmentation system. The flight, lasting approximately 15 minutes, reached an altitude of 10,400 feet and speeds of 232 knots, providing valuable data for the continued development of Boom’s Overture supersonic airliner.
This flight was the first for Boom’s Chief Test Pilot Tristan “Geppetto” Brandenburg, who will continue piloting the XB-1 throughout its test program, including its anticipated first supersonic flight. The successful second flight builds on the initial test, addressing previous findings and furthering the goal of reviving supersonic passenger travel.
