In a first for the event, Avalon 2025 will host three Astronauts, including Australia’s own, who will share their passion for STEM and space exploration as part of the event’s Careers initiatives.
NASA Astronauts Charlie Duke and Mike Bloomfield will join the first astronaut under the Australian Flag, Katherine Bennell-Pegg, onsite at Avalon to present the winners of this year’s Endeavour Scholarship and speak with 7000+ students at Careers Day on Friday 28 March.
Charlie Duke was the Lunar Module pilot on the Apollo 16 moon landing and the youngest person to walk on the Moon. Mike Bloomfield, former Deputy Director of Flight Crew Operations at NASA, flew three Space Shuttle missions. Katherine Bennell-Pegg made history last year as the first astronaut qualified under the Australian flag: together the three will represent the past, present and future of space exploration onsite on at Avalon.
See the Astronauts on Wednesday 26 March from 1400 at the Endeavour Scholarship Ceremony, USA Pavilion Exhibition Hall 3 and at Careers Day Friday 28 March from 1000 on the Main Stage for Dream Big: Journeys, Innovations and Humanity in Space.
