The Avalon 2025 Innovation Pitchfest and Awards continues to evolve with the announcement of a brand new category to encourage visionary creativity and emerging ideas.
Entries are now open for the Avalon 2025 Blue-Sky Thinking Innovation Award which opens the door for low-TRL (Technology Readiness Level) entries, embracing early-stage concepts and bold, imaginative thinking.
Whether it’s a lightbulb moment or an initial idea, this category celebrates innovation with the potential to shape the future of the Australian defence landscape.
Head of the Innovation Pitchfest and Awards judging panel, Mr Tony Quick, said introducing the new category was an important progression of the Innovation Program in line with Australia’s National Defence Strategy.
“The launch of the Blue Sky Thinking Innovation Award reflects the critical need to embrace early-stage ideas that challenge conventional boundaries,” he said.
“In line with the Defence Innovation, Science and Technology strategy, this award seeks to foster disruptive concepts and untapped potential, recognising that today’s imaginative thinking can lead to tomorrow’s game-changing capabilities.
“By creating this category, we are empowering innovators to explore visionary solutions that will shape Australia’s defence future.”
Entries for the Avalon 2025 Blue-Sky Thinking Innovation Award are open now and close Monday, 3 February, 1700 AEDT.
