ASIM, Oct 28

The third day of the AFRIDEX 2026 Strategic Conference opened with Building Africa’s Defence Capability, a panel examining how the journey from procurement to sovereignty can be accelerated across the continent.

Moderated by Major General Olufemi T. Akinjobi, Strategic Advisor to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the panel brought together Ambassador Emmanuel Amara Vandi Fomba, Founder and Global President of the Global Chamber on African Trade, Rights and Economic Development, Major General Tarek Abdeldatah Mohammed, Deputy Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization, and Major General Effiong Edet, Director General of the Joint Doctrine and Warfare Centre of Nigeria.

Discussion centred on aligning procurement with strategic priorities, building sustainable domestic capability and advancing long-term defence sovereignty.
