ASIM, Oct 08

“Value Chains and Global Industrial Sovereignty” was the focus of a high-level panel held at Marrakech AirShow 2026, bringing together Mr. Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Stéphane Cueille, President of Safran Aircraft Engines, Mr. Gabriel Semelas, President of Airbus Africa and Middle East, Mr. Steve Sheehy, Vice President of International Business Development at Lockheed Martin, and Mr. Abdelhafid Mordi, CEO Middle East & Africa at Harmattan AI.

The discussion explored how global aerospace and defense value chains are being reshaped, what drives major industrial investment decisions, and how Morocco is strengthening its integration into increasingly complex and high-value activities.

Speakers also highlighted Morocco’s growing role in aerospace, from Safran’s new engine facility and Airbus’s long-standing industrial partnership to emerging opportunities in advanced technologies and AI.

A key focus was industrial sovereignty in an increasingly interconnected world, not as a move towards isolation, but as an opportunity to build resilient and trusted value chains, strengthen local capabilities, attract strategic investment and position Morocco as a reliable partner in the global aerospace and defense ecosystem.
