HENSOLDT and HEVI Optronics at Africa Aerospace and Defence 2026

Our in-house KENIS thermal sensor, proven in our flagship systems for long-range surveillance and C-UAS, is now open to the market as a standalone sensor.

For more than five years, the KENIS 1280 AK has been the centrepiece of our ARGOS and BushBaby systems. At Africa Aerospace and Defence 2026, we are announcing it as a HENSOLDT product – and kicked off with a significant order from HEVI Optronics.

A 1280 × 1024 cooled MWIR detector and 30× continuous zoom, sharpened by our own video processing, give KENIS long-range reach – from detection to identification. Low SWaP means it suits airborne, land, naval and C-UAS platforms.

Securing an order of this scale at AAD is a strong validation of the market opportunity – and this is just the beginning. We look forward to supporting integrators as they build the next generation of electro-optical and multi-sensor systems.
