Airbus and Alta Ares sign a MoU to develop Europe’s air defence solutions at ILA Berlin 2026

ASIAgainst a complex geopolitical backdrop, defending against unmanned aerial threats requires speed, scale, and seamless integration. To address this challenge, Airbus Defence and Space and Alta Ares have partnered to develop resilient, next-generation counter-drone solutions.

“Our counter-drone strategy aims to provide armed forces with cost-efficient and cutting-edge solutions, which can be fully integrated in the air defence ecosystem,” highlights François Lombard, Head of Connected Intelligence at Airbus Defence and Space.

The Power of Integration: By embedding Alta Ares’ AI-powered tactical systems—including the X-Lock and Black Bird interceptors—into Airbus’ combat-proven Fortion IBMS, theatre commanders will benefit from a single, coherent sensor-to-shooter chain. This synergy acts as a major force multiplier, combining Airbus’ robust command-and-control software with Alta Ares’ hardware already proven on the battlefield in Ukraine.
