IATA’s Global Head of Cargo Brendan Sullivan’s Speech at the 19th World Cargo Symposium

ASIM, Mar 10

From shifting trade patterns to rapid technological change, air cargo is operating in an environment that’s more complex than ever.

“The months ahead will test our resolve. Evolving U.S. trade policies are reshaping trade flows. Hostilities in the Middle East are disrupting airspace and adding operational complexity. The operating environment is becoming more uncertain — not less.”

Brendan Sullivan, IATA’s Global Head of Cargo, shared a clear message during his speech from #IATAWCS in Lima, Peru: progress depends on collaboration, strong global standards, and practical innovation that works at scale.

This includes:

Accelerating digitalization, including ONE Record and AI

Strengthening consistent global standards and fair access to infrastructure

Keeping safety and security at the core of the supply chain

When air cargo connectivity is reliable, businesses can grow, jobs are supported, and global trade keeps moving—no matter how the world changes.

“Reliable air cargo connectivity turns local production into global opportunity. It connects businesses to markets. It supports jobs and economic growth. And it keeps global trade moving — even as the world around it changes.”
