De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited announced that Zimex Aviation has signed a Purchase Agreement to become the launch customer for the newly certified Garmin Avionics packages, upgrading their Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft. This order of four upgrade kits, facilitated through a partnership with Aerocorp Avionics Solutions, will be delivered to Zimex in the latter half of the year. Zimex, a longstanding customer of De Havilland Canada, had previously ordered two new DHC Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft at the Paris Airshow in 2023, which are scheduled for delivery in 2025.
Ryan DeBrusk, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for De Havilland Canada, expressed pleasure in Zimex’s decision to upgrade their Twin Otters with the new avionics suites, highlighting the enduring relationship between the two companies. Daniele Cereghetti, CEO of Zimex Aviation, emphasized the significant role of the Twin Otter aircraft in their business over the past 54 years and their excitement to modernize their fleet with advanced DHC technology. Zimex, also a De Havilland Factory Endorsed Service Centre, takes pride in maintaining and operating the Twin Otter aircraft, known for their exceptional capabilities. The certification of the upgrades was completed in June 2024, with autopilot certification expected in early 2025.
