ASIM, aug 16

AirBaltic has confirmed an additional order for 10 A220-300 aircraft, bringing its total firm order to 90. As the largest A220-300 operator globally and the largest A220 customer in Europe, airBaltic has exclusively operated the A220 since 2020. This new order further cements the airline’s commitment to the A220 program, which has been central to its operations and international success since it became the launch customer in 2016. The A220’s operational efficiency and value have proven crucial to airBaltic’s growth, and the airline now plans to expand its fleet to nearly 100 A220-300 aircraft.

The Airbus A220, with its advanced design, aerodynamics, and next-generation Pratt & Whitney engines, offers significant environmental benefits, including a 50% reduced noise footprint, 40% lower NOx emissions, and 25% lower fuel burn and CO2 emissions per seat compared to older aircraft models. With its spacious cabin, the A220 can carry 120 to 150 passengers up to 3,600 nautical miles, providing excellent range and comfort. Airbus has delivered around 350 A220s globally and aims to have all its aircraft capable of operating with 100% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) by 2030.
