Patria and Pratt & Whitney, part of RTX, have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to outline the contractual framework for the production and sustainment of Pratt & Whitney F135 engines in Finland by Patria. The agreement covers the assembly of F135 engines and components from 2025 to 2030, after which it transitions to Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul, and Upgrade (MRO&U) operations beginning in 2030. Assembly and maintenance lines will be established in Linnavuori, Nokia, creating approximately 50 jobs for Patria.

Petri Hepola, Chief Program Officer for the F-35 at Patria, highlighted the agreement as a significant milestone for Finland’s F-35 program, emphasizing the productive collaboration between Patria, Pratt & Whitney, and Finnish defense entities. Chris Johnson, Vice President of the F135 Program at Pratt & Whitney, noted that these industrial opportunities will enhance Finland’s expertise in 5th generation engine technology, contribute to national and NATO defense, and expand the F135 sustainment network. The F135 engine’s industrial participation in Finland will bolster security of supply and positively impact the national economy.
