During the Singapore Airshow, Pratt & Whitney, a business under RTX, announced its partnership with Cebu Pacific Air (Cebu Pacific) to supply GTF engines for an additional 10 A321neo and five A320neo aircraft. Under the agreement, Pratt & Whitney will also provide comprehensive engine maintenance services through its EngineWise® Comprehensive service agreement. Rick Deurloo, President of Commercial Engines at Pratt & Whitney, emphasized the GTF engine’s role in delivering fuel efficiency and carbon emissions savings, with deliveries for the new order slated to begin in 2025.
Cebu Pacific, currently operating 33 GTF-powered A320neo family aircraft, has a longstanding relationship with Pratt & Whitney dating back to the 1990s, initially involving JT8D engines for the airline’s DC-9 aircraft. Michael B. Szucs, CEO of Cebu Pacific, highlighted the importance of lower operating costs in supporting the airline’s growth trajectory, with significant improvements in fuel burn contributing to their commitment to environmental sustainability.
