British Airways Orders First GEnx Engines for New 787 Dreamliners

ASIM, jul 22

GE Aerospace announced that International Airlines Group (IAG) will purchase GEnx engines to power six new 787 Dreamliners for British Airways, marking the first use of this engine in their fleet. This decision represents a significant milestone in their ongoing relationship, with British Airways previously being the launch customer for the GE90 engine. The GEnx-1B, known for its fuel efficiency and ability to operate on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blends, powers two-thirds of the 787s in service. With over 56 million flight hours and nearly 3,000 units in service and on backlog, the GEnx engine is the fastest-selling high-thrust engine in GE Aerospace history. British Airways currently operates aircraft powered by GE’s GE90, CF34, and LEAP engines.
