GE Aerospace Selected to Support SNC for USAF Survivable AirborneOperations Center Effort

GE Aerospace, under its Defense & Systems division, has been chosen by SNC to participate in the refurbishment and enhancement of GEnx-2B engines powering the U.S. Air Force’s SAOC Boeing 747-8 aircraft. This collaboration marks a significant commitment to national security, with GE Aerospace leveraging its expertise to ensure the SAOC’s operational readiness. Amy Gowder, president and CEO of Defense & Systems at GE Aerospace, emphasized the importance of the GEnx engine’s reliability and performance for this critical program.

The GEnx engine, renowned for its superior efficiency and environmental benefits, is a cornerstone of GE Aerospace’s contribution. With over 3,000 engines delivered or on order, the GEnx family stands as GE Aerospace’s fastest-selling high-thrust engine to date, showcasing a remarkable operational track record since its service debut in 2011. Its technological advancements, including a low-emission twin-annular combustor and lightweight composite materials, provide substantial improvements in fuel efficiency, emissions reduction, and noise levels compared to its predecessors.

This partnership underscores GE Aerospace’s pivotal role in supporting the U.S. Air Force’s strategic capabilities through advanced engine technology, ensuring enhanced performance and sustainability for the SAOC fleet and reinforcing its position in defense aviation innovation.
