CAE announces Elle Betchley as Women in Flight Ambassador 2024

ASIM, jul 24

CAE, a leader in global aviation training, announced at the Farnborough International Airshow that Elle Betchley has been named the fifteenth CAE Women in Flight Ambassador. The CAE Women in Flight program, launched in 2018, aims to inspire women to pursue careers in aviation, and has evolved into an ambassador program promoting female pilot professionals. Elle, currently training in the CAE Generation easyJet Pilot Training Program, will become a co-pilot for easyJet upon completion. As an ambassador, she receives a full scholarship and is responsible for encouraging more women to join the aviation sector, promoting diversity and awareness of opportunities for women in professional pilot careers.

The program aims to train up to 200 easyJet pilots annually through 2028 and fosters a network of like-minded ambassadors to normalize diversity in aviation. CAE’s Vice-President, Marie-Christine Cloutier, emphasized the industry’s need to support women’s advancement and expand the talent pool, noting that women currently represent only 4-6% of professional pilots worldwide. Elle, initially trained as an agronomist, was inspired by her husband to pursue a pilot career and aspires to change perceptions and inspire young women in aviation. The rigorous selection process for ambassadors involves multiple application stages, aiming to recruit more female pilots and influence the future workforce of the aviation industry.
