ASIM, jul 23

GKN Aerospace has expanded its facility in Chihuahua, Mexico, doubling its size to 80,000 square feet and enhancing its aerospace manufacturing capabilities for the North American market. This multi-million USD investment will allow the facility to focus on assembling composite aerostructures and manufacturing electrical wiring interconnection systems (EWIS). The expansion aims to generate over 200 new jobs, strengthen local aerospace partnerships with companies like HondaJet and Gulfstream, and position the site for future growth.

The expansion marks a significant milestone for GKN Aerospace, embedding its industry-leading EWIS capabilities into North America for the first time. John Pritchard, President of Civil Airframe at GKN Aerospace, highlighted the importance of the upgraded facility in supporting both current and future sustainable flight platforms. Maria Eugenia Campos, Governor of the State of Chihuahua, expressed pride in GKN Aerospace’s growth and commitment to the region, noting the state’s support for the company’s ongoing and future projects. The Chihuahua facility, now a multi-technology aerospace manufacturing center, will play a crucial role in the company’s operations, catering to the civil aircraft and business aerospace markets in the US and Europe.
