Embraer Reveals Upgrades Across its Commercial E-Jet Range

ASIM, jul 23

Embraer has announced a series of upgrades and performance improvements for its commercial jets, including the E195-E2, E190-E2, and E175, at the Farnborough Air Show. These enhancements focus on fuel burn and range improvements, avionics, and cabin upgrades, significantly boosting operational effectiveness. The updates are expected to deliver a net present value of $6 million per aircraft over 15 years through cost reduction and additional revenue. Key improvements for the E175 include larger overhead bins, mood lighting, Recaro seats, multi-band satellite connectivity, and next-generation weather and data avionics. The E195-E2 has become 12.5% more fuel-efficient than its competitors, with fuel burn reduced by 2.5%, and its range increased from 2600NM to 3000NM. The cabin optimization on the E195-E2 also allows for an extra row of seats, potentially increasing revenue by $4.5 million per aircraft over 15 years.

The E175’s enhancements, which can be requested by customers, also include satellite connectivity and advanced weather radar with turbulence and wind shear detection. The E2 jets see additional fuel burn reductions, improved engine time on wing, and an enhanced takeoff system, which provides better performance from challenging airports. The E195-E2’s new maximum takeoff weight certification, combined with lower fuel burn, has increased its range, and engine optimizations are expected to save operators $0.5 million over 15 years. These upgrades collectively aim to enhance passenger experience, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability, reinforcing Embraer’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
