The Brazilian National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) has finalized a financing contract worth around R$4.5 billion for the export of 32 Embraer E175 commercial jets to American Airlines. Announced at Embraer’s headquarters in São José dos Campos, the deal leverages BNDES Exim Post-shipment, a direct credit line for the export of national goods. The event was attended by key officials, including Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and BNDES President Aloizio Mercadante. BNDES’s support is crucial for Brazil’s aeronautical industry due to its technological advancements, job creation, and innovation.

Earlier this year, American Airlines confirmed an order for 90 E175 jets with options for an additional 43, potentially exceeding US$7 billion in value. BNDES, a significant partner to Embraer, has supported the export of over 1,300 aircraft since 1997, financing more than US$25 billion. This support helps maintain Embraer’s status as a top global aircraft producer and drives national industry development. Additionally, BNDES supports Embraer’s innovation through financing new products and sustainable technologies, aligning with Brazil’s Mais Produção Plan for a more export-oriented and innovative industrial sector.
