VerdeGo Aero will unveil its VH-4T turbine hybrid-electric powerplant at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow. This 400 kW powerplant enhances electrified aircraft and drones with greater range, payload, and speed, making it a crucial addition to VerdeGo’s hybrid-electric solutions portfolio, which also includes the 185 kW VH-3. The hybrid powerplants combine the advantages of liquid fuels with electrification, offering efficient, maneuverable, and reliable aircraft designs. They support the trend towards electrification in aviation by integrating electric propulsion motors and Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF), making aircraft more efficient and versatile.
The VH-4T powerplant, consisting of an aircraft engine, generator, power electronics, and control systems, follows the certification pathway for hybrid systems using FAA Part 33. It provides 415 kW of electrical power at 800 volts DC and weighs about 565 pounds, making it suitable for various applications such as air taxis, eCTOL or eSTOL aircraft, and cargo drones. VerdeGo Aero assists customers in integrating these powerplants into different aircraft types. Details about the VH-4T will be available at the VerdeGo Aero chalet at Farnborough and a prototype will be displayed at the Experimental Aircraft Association AirVenture show in Oshkosh
