Twenty-third edition, the International Air and Space Fair, FIDAE 2024

During its twenty-third edition, the International Air and Space Fair, FIDAE, covered an area of 15,604 square meters, surpassing 420 exhibitors, showcasing 115 aircraft on display, with participation from over 50 countries, hosting about 600 official and professional delegations, and accrediting over 1,500 national and international press members and spotters covering the event, along with approximately 100,000 attendees.

Over the six fair days, visitors witnessed technological advancements and innovation across the six sectors covered in the exhibition, including Civil-Commercial Aviation, Defense, Airport Equipment and Services, Homeland Security, Aircraft Maintenance, and Space Technology.

The Commercial Exhibition began on Tuesday, April 9th, and concluded on Friday, April 12th, where professionals from various fields showcased their product portfolios and services, resulting in several commercial agreements. Additionally, around 1,500 scheduled meetings were held.

During the weekend, the Air Show took place, dedicated to the general public, who enjoyed captivating aerial and static demonstrations, including the Technological Fair of the Chilean Air Force (FACH) located in Hall A, where attendees had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge technology. The Air Force booth in Hall E was dedicated to the Matrix Schools, Presentation Groups, and Military Aviators.

Among the aerial demonstrations, aircraft such as the F-22 Raptor, F-16 Fighting Falcons (Block 50 and Block 15 models), F-5 Tigre III, A-29B Super Tucano, DHC-6 Twin Otter, MH-60M Black Hawk helicopters, and Bell 412 were highlighted. Acrobatic performances by the Brazilian Air Force’s Air Demonstration Squadron (FAB EDA), known as the “Smoke Squadron”; the High Acrobatics Squadron “Halcones” belonging to the FACH Presentation Group; Team Villarica; the RV Team, and Chilean pilots Mijali Proestakis and Felipe Tapia, among others, also dazzled the audience.

Furthermore, the parachute teams consisting of the Boinas Azules Parachute Squadron of the Chilean Air Force, the Wings of Blue of the United States Air Force, and the Águilas de Gules Parachute Team of the Colombian Air Force captivated spectators with their performances.

The International Air and Space Fair, FIDAE, organized by the Chilean Air Force, concluded its twenty-third edition with great success. Among other aspects, it helped raise greater aerospace awareness among the country’s inhabitants, brought the institution closer to the public, especially children, and reaffirmed the significance this renowned exhibition holds for Chile.
