ASIM, jul 22

Japan Airlines has ordered GEnx-1B engines from GE Aerospace to power up to 20 new 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, following its agreement with Boeing. This order reinforces the long-standing relationship between GE Aerospace and Japan Airlines, which was the launch customer for the GEnx engine. The GEnx engine family, known for its performance, reliability, and fuel efficiency, has accumulated over 56 million flight hours since its entry into service in 2011 and remains the fastest-selling high-thrust engine in GE Aerospace’s history.

Japan Airlines, a launch airline for GEnx-powered 787 Dreamliners, currently operates 53 Boeing 787s with GEnx engines and has reached 3 million engine flight hours. The GEnx engine is crucial for the airline’s fleet expansion due to its advanced technology that reduces weight, improves performance, and lowers maintenance. Additionally, the engine can operate on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blends, aligning with modern sustainable aviation practices. Japan Airlines also operates other GE Aerospace engines, including the CF6, GE90, CF34, and CFM56.
