Turkish Airlines and GE Aerospace Announce Agreement for 8 GE90-110B Engines&Services to Power Boeing 777 Freighter Cargo Fleet

GE Aerospace and Turkish Airlines have signed a combined engine sales and TrueChoice Flight Hour agreement for eight GE90-110B engines to power four Turkish Cargo Boeing 777 Freighters. Levent Konukcu, Turkish Airlines Chief Investment and Strategy Officer, emphasized that this agreement strengthens their strategic partnership with GE Aerospace, enhancing the efficiency of their cargo fleet and reinforcing their position as one of the top three air cargo carriers globally. This partnership supports Turkish Cargo’s growth and Istanbul’s development as a leading logistics hub, helping them achieve their ambitious cargo tonnage goals by 2033.

Russell Stokes, President and CEO of GE Aerospace Commercial Engines & Services, highlighted the GE90 engine’s reliability, lower noise, emissions, and fuel consumption, noting that over 3,000 GE90 engines have been delivered worldwide since 1990. Turkish Airlines operates a fleet of 456 aircraft, serving over 340 destinations globally, and this new addition will further bolster their cargo capabilities. GE Aerospace has a long-standing commitment to Türkiye, with over 440 employees and multiple facilities supporting more than 2,300 engines across the country, contributing to the nation’s advanced aerospace sector. The GE90 engine features innovative technologies like composite fan blades and additive manufactured components, enhancing its performance and reliability.
