Regional air mobility capabilities of the Cassio electric-hybrid aircraft

ASIM, sep 18

The Cassio electric-hybrid aircraft family, showcased at the Bali International Air Show by Global Sky, represents a significant advancement in sustainable aviation for Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Designed for a variety of applications—including regional, business, and medical air transport—the Cassio line emphasizes eco-efficiency, operational safety, and compatibility with local airport infrastructure. Key features include a dual-source propulsion system, shorter runway operation capabilities, reduced noise levels, and low operational costs with single-pilot certification.

Global Sky, as VoltAero’s launch customer in Southeast Asia, has pre-ordered 15 Cassio aircraft and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on operational planning, route definitions, and the development of necessary recharging infrastructure. This partnership aims to enhance the regional aviation landscape by integrating innovative technologies that align with Southeast Asia’s growth goals. With models ranging from five to twelve seats, the Cassio aircraft are tailored for popular routes, such as Jakarta to Bali and Manila to Kaohsiung.

VoltAero’s innovative hybrid propulsion system combines an electric motor with a range-extending internal combustion engine, ensuring efficient operation for short flights and backup safety. This design allows for all-electric flight under specific conditions and provides significant performance advantages over existing competitors. The Cassio family is positioned to serve not only commercial operators and charter services but also utility functions such as cargo delivery and medical evacuations, reinforcing its role in advancing the aviation sector sustainably.
