Boeing Board Names Kelly Ortberg President and CEO

Boeing has announced the appointment of Robert K. “Kelly” Ortberg as its new president and chief executive officer, effective August 8, 2024. Ortberg, who will also join Boeing’s Board of Directors, succeeds Dave Calhoun, who is retiring after leading the company since January 2020. Calhoun had been a Board member since 2009 and guided Boeing through a challenging period in recent years.

Steven Mollenkopf, Boeing’s Chair of the Board, praised Ortberg for his extensive experience and respected leadership in the aerospace industry. Ortberg’s background includes over 35 years in aerospace, starting with Texas Instruments and Rockwell Collins, where he served as president and CEO before leading the integration with United Technologies and RTX. He has also held significant roles on various Boards, including Aptiv PLC and the Aerospace Industries Association.

Ortberg expressed his honor at joining Boeing and emphasized his commitment to continuing the company’s legacy of leadership and innovation with a focus on safety and quality.
