Farnborough International Airshow 2024 closes with an impressive £81.5bn worth of deals and a focus on the Pioneers of Tomorrow

The 45th Farnborough International Airshow (FIA2024) concluded with remarkable success, achieving £81.5 billion in deals and 260 firm commercial aircraft orders over its first four days. The UK alone saw £13 billion in announced deals. As the show progressed to its final day, the focus shifted to inspiring future generations in aviation, highlighting initiatives such as Pioneers of Tomorrow, which aim to showcase career opportunities in the sector to young people.

Diversity and inclusion were prominent themes throughout the event. ITP Aero, led by women at the top, emphasized the importance of mentoring and supporting individuals from various backgrounds. Virgin Atlantic championed gender diversity in aviation, encouraging more women to pursue pilot training despite traditional barriers. Meanwhile, European Space Agency astronaut Rosemary Coogan highlighted that diversity in space exploration is evolving, with a near-equal gender split among new ESA astronauts.

As the airshow wrapped up, spectators enjoyed a spectacular final display, including performances from the Starlings Aerobatic team, Stampe Formation team, and a dramatic F-35 flypast by the Royal Air Force. The event concluded with the British Army’s Red Devils parachuting to the ground, marking the end of another successful Farnborough International Airshow. Looking ahead, the next edition is set 2026, name Farnborough International Airshow 2026.
