GKN Aerospace and VÆRIDION sign Technology Collaboration on All-Electric Microliner Aircraft

ASIM, jul 25

GKN Aerospace and VÆRIDION have announced a technology collaboration at the 2024 Farnborough Airshow to advance aerostructures and Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS) for VÆRIDION’s all-electric microliner aircraft. VÆRIDION’s microliner, designed to accommodate nine passengers and crew for distances up to 500 kilometers, serves as a pioneering platform for innovative EWIS technology aimed at electric-powered aircraft. This partnership underscores both companies’ commitment to sustainable aviation, leveraging GKN Aerospace’s expertise in lightweight aerostructures and EWIS to optimize the microliner’s design for enhanced performance and efficiency.

Arjen Landman, Sr. Vice-President Civil Programs at GKN Aerospace, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the opportunity to push technological boundaries in electric flight. The partnership aims to support VÆRIDION’s goal of decarbonizing short-haul flights by leveraging GKN Aerospace’s capabilities to accelerate the development of lightweight aerostructures and EWIS, critical components in the Microliner Programme.
