Aerobility delivers the dream at Farnborough International Airshow 2024

ASIM, jul 19

Aerobility, a UK-based aviation charity that provides flying opportunities for disabled people, will be showcasing at the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) from July 22-26, 2024, at Stand E040. The event marks the debut of their latest fleet addition, the homebuilt two-seat Zenair CH750 STOL aircraft, G-ICAN, which recently flew from Blackbushe Airport to Farnborough Airport under a special permit. The ‘Building a Dream’ project, launched at FIA 2018, involved a team of disabled and able-bodied volunteers building the aircraft with significant support from corporate and individual contributors. Aerobility will share details of this build, which began with a kickoff by The Red Arrows team members.

Aerobility will have a strong presence at FIA 2024, emphasizing diversity, equality, and inclusion (DE&I). CEO Mike Miller-Smith MBE and Advocacy Manager Harvey Matthewson, along with a team of 20, will lead discussions on advancing DE&I in aerospace. Harvey, a disabled flier, will participate in a panel session on July 24 about DE&I in aerospace, and on July 26, he will deliver a keynote on disability inclusion and its importance to the industry. Aerobility is also collaborating with the UK Space Agency and King’s College London on a feasibility study to make spaceflight accessible to people with physical disabilities. The charity invites corporate delegates to discuss DE&I policies, highlighting how partnering with Aerobility can enhance their business’s DE&I scores and success in tenders.
