Vietjet to order 20 A330neo widebodies at SGA 2024

ASIM, feb 22. Vietjet Air has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus for the purchase of 20 A330-900 widebody aircraft, marking the airline’s first-ever widebody order. These new aircraft will serve Vietjet’s expanding long-range network and high-capacity regional services, replacing the carrier’s current fleet of leased A330-300s and facilitating network expansion. Vietjet CEO Dinh Viet Phuong emphasized that the introduction of the A330neo aligns with the airline’s sustainability strategy, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050, and will offer passengers longer-range flights with enhanced services at competitive fares.

Christian Scherer, CEO of the Commercial Aircraft business of Airbus, expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Vietjet on the carrier’s expansion plans, noting that the A330neo will enable the airline to achieve the lowest possible operating costs per seat while providing customers with excellent value. With its advanced features and capabilities, including the Airspace cabin design and Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, the A330-900 is poised to deliver a superior passenger experience and operational efficiency on long-haul routes.
