Valued at up to $89 million, the contract will be executed through September 2027, with an initial delivery order exceeding $57.5 million placed in September. The work is set to take place in Talladega, Alabama, where Elbit America will leverage its expertise to enhance the capabilities of the F-16 fleet.

According to Scott Tumpak, Senior Vice President of Electronic Systems at Elbit America, the WACHUD replacements not only modernize the aircraft but also promote commonality across the US Air Force’s F-16 fleet. This uniformity is advantageous for pilots, maintainers, and the supply chain, as it simplifies management and maintenance. The WACHUD system will replace the existing Diffractive Optic Head-Up Displays, providing critical flight and mission-related information to improve operational efficiency. Jimmy Johns, Vice President of Operations at Elbit America, expressed confidence in their Talladega workforce, noting their extensive experience with F-16 avionics and Head-Up Displays, and looking forward to the multi-year program and growth of aftermarket services.

ASIM, dec 02 The US Air Force has awarded a contract to Elbit Systems of America for the supply of replacements for the F-16 Block 40/42 Wide-Angle Conventional Head-Up Displays (WACHUD).
