These projections appear in Boeing&#8217;s 2024 World Air Cargo Forecast (WACF), the biennial overview and long-term outlook for the air cargo industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As the quickest and most reliable way to move goods, air cargo&#8217;s sustained growth has returned the industry to its long-term trend,&#8221; said&nbsp;Darren Hulst, Boeing vice president of Commercial Marketing. &#8220;There will be many drivers for continued freighter demand over the next 20 years, including expansion of emerging markets and global growth in manufacturing and e-commerce.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mma.prnewswire.com\/media\/2554752\/Emirates_Airline_and_777_Brand.jpg?w=600\"><a href=\"https:\/\/boeing.mediaroom.com\/2024-11-12-Boeing-Air-Cargo-Traffic-to-Double-by-2043-as-Emerging-Markets-Drive-Growth#assets_117:21493\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/boeing.mediaroom.com\/2024-11-12-Boeing-Air-Cargo-Traffic-to-Double-by-2043-as-Emerging-Markets-Drive-Growth#assets_117:21493\">View File<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/boeing.mediaroom.com\/protected_url.php?key=zbheaeRjba.PbtuzGMAM6k2T9klG9wUJxOgkCEoYi0d2h6BGN9AZTA_6GMzMM7vYD.VlkZ3QiddvEdNTLkmm_2TMY8qSQH5tQe_5lvAv6ZsLZQRpEGrCwg&amp;type=gallery&amp;id=21493&amp;page=20295&amp;item=131505\">Download File<\/a>Emirates Airline and 777 Brand<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Further insight from the 2024 WACF:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The global air cargo fleet is forecast to rise to 3,900 airplanes by 2043, a two-thirds increase from 2,340 freighters in 2023.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Driven by demand in high-growth Asian markets, the large\u00a0widebody freighter fleet will nearly double.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nearly half of production and conversion deliveries will replace retiring freighters with more capable and fuel-efficient models \u2014 due to recent market needs, many older jets remain in service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Regional movers:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>East and South Asian markets will see the highest traffic growth per year, driven by expanding economies and consumer demand.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With the\u00a0Asia-Pacific\u00a0fleet expected to nearly triple, carriers in that region will require the most deliveries (980), followed closely by\u00a0North America\u00a0(955).
