HENSOLDT has unveiled its next-generation airborne imaging system, the ARGOS-15, at the Africa Aerospace and Defence Expo 2024. This advanced 15-inch gimbal system enhances the company’s renowned ARGOS family and is designed for modern intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. With a modular design and AI-powered features, the ARGOS-15 promises exceptional performance for medium to high altitude operations on both manned and unmanned platforms.
Building on over 35 years of expertise in airborne imaging, the ARGOS-15 offers significant advancements over its predecessor, the ARGOS-II, which has been deployed on more than 34 platforms globally. The new system incorporates next-generation multispectral sensors, providing superior image quality in various lighting conditions. It features advanced image fusion capabilities, allowing for detailed analysis of aerial footage, and ensures optimal visibility even in challenging environments.
The ARGOS-15 is designed for operational superiority at altitudes of up to 50,000 feet, making it suitable for a diverse array of platforms, including UAVs, helicopters, and fixed-wing aircraft. Its AI-driven object detection and tracking enhance mission efficiency, while the system is fully integrated with laser sensors for precise ISR capabilities. Proudly developed in South Africa, the ARGOS-15 will begin production deliveries in mid-2025, positioning it as a leading solution for airborne surveillance globally.
