Boeing has invested in Wagner Sustainable Fuels to help develop a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production facility in Brisbane, Australia. This investment aligns with Boeing’s strategy to expand global access to SAF, which can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 84% compared to traditional jet fuel. The partnership aims to increase Australia’s SAF supply, supporting the country’s climate goals and the global aviation industry’s commitment to achieving net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050. Currently, SAF represents just 0.1% of global jet fuel use.
The Brisbane facility will use innovative waste-to-SAF technology to convert ethanol from waste-based feedstocks into sustainable aviation fuel. This project, backed by Boeing and the Queensland Government, will create local jobs, enhance Australia’s fuel security, and contribute to the reduction of aviation-related greenhouse gas emissions. The initiative is part of a broader effort to establish Australia as a leader in SAF production, helping the country meet its emissions reduction targets and supporting the aviation industry’s move towards sustainability.
