Honeywell has been selected by Air Arabia Group to provide its 131-9A auxiliary power units (APUs) for 120 Airbus A320neo family aircraft. This agreement includes comprehensive maintenance support, aimed at improving fleet reliability, fuel efficiency, and reducing unplanned maintenance costs. The APU is essential for providing electrical power and air conditioning to the aircraft while on the ground, ensuring passenger comfort before engine startup. Honeywell and Air Arabia have built on their 10-year partnership, focusing on sustainable practices and advanced technology to enhance efficiency and operations.
With the addition of Honeywell’s 131-9A APUs, Air Arabia will also adopt the High Efficiency Mode (HEM) upgrade, which improves fuel efficiency by 1-2% and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by up to 22 metric tons per APU annually. This aligns with the airline’s broader sustainability goals, particularly in light of the region’s commitments following COP28. Honeywell’s APUs have a proven track record for reliability and operational efficiency, contributing to the company’s leadership in auxiliary power solutions with over 100 million in-service hours across its 131 series APUs.
