Lilium’s planned eVTOL fleet will feature a combination of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and custom antennas, including VHF Com + GPS, Wi-Fi/LTE, ELT, GNSS, and more, to ensure robust communication and navigation capabilities. Thales’ expertise in minimizing drag, weight, and optimizing antenna placement is expected to play a crucial role in the success of Lilium’s eVTOL program, supporting both operational efficiency and sustainability goals.
Lilium’s Senior Vice President of Procurement, Martin Schuebel, emphasized the importance of quality and experience in selecting suppliers, expressing satisfaction with Thales Aerospace Communications for their high-quality navigation and communication antennas. Thales’ Vice-President, Nicolas Bonleux, highlighted the opportunity within the Regional Air Mobility segment to support eVTOL manufacturers in addressing the cost and time challenges of urban air transport, noting the value of their collaboration with Lilium.
