The Farnborough International Airshow 2024 solidified its status as a premier event in the aerospace calendar, achieving its busiest edition in recent decades with a 33% increase in visitors and a 57% rise in delegation attendance. Over 100,000 visitors and 1,500 exhibitors from more than 60 countries attended the show, which took place from July 22-26. The event featured 90 civil and military aircraft and over 390 delegations, resulting in more than $105 billion in commercial deals announced by major industry players such as Airbus, Boeing, and Embraer.
Opened by the UK’s new Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, the airshow attracted global attention as it brought together international industry leaders, start-ups, and pioneers from the aerospace, defense, and space sectors for five days in Hampshire, UK. Significant announcements included $105.8 billion in commercial aircraft and engine orders, contributing £13 billion to the UK economy. Additionally, the UK Government used the event to launch Skills England, aimed at providing opportunities for young individuals interested in apprenticeships.
A new feature for 2024, the UK Government Hub, provided a platform for political, industry, and international stakeholders to support UK aerospace, defense, and space sectors, with ten government departments and agencies participating. Another first was the dedicated air display live stream, in partnership with Aerospace Global News, attracting more than 178,000 views throughout the week. The airshow also focused on inspiring the next generation of aerospace professionals through its Pioneers of Tomorrow day, which included an extended flying display and a Careers Hub, welcoming over 20,000 visitors.
Gareth Rogers, CEO of Farnborough International, highlighted the show’s success in delivering for the aerospace, space, and defense industries while achieving significant global media reach. He emphasized the airshow’s evolution into an influential global event showcasing aviation excellence and innovation. Looking ahead, more than 100 companies have already rebooked for the 2026 event, including Bell, Viasat, Reaction Engines, MBDA, and Northrop Grumman. Notably, Kallman Worldwide signed for the largest pavilion space in the airshow’s history, underscoring the strong relationship between the US and UK industries.
